WILLIAM GONZALEZ, MD

William Gonzalez, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who has been in practice since 2012. He is bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Gonzalez has vast experience in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, urgent care, and home health, as well as home hospice care. He specializes in preventive and primary care, chronic disease management, mental health disorder management, and minor office surgeries, including skin cyst excisions, punch biopsies, I&D of abscesses, and removal of ingrown nails. He is also experienced in comprehensive female care and is trained in the placement and removal of Nexplanon implants.

Dr. Gonzalez has been involved in the supervision of, and in collaboration with, mid-level providers. He is interested in the Collaborative Care Model and has been part of a collaborative care team for the provision of mental health care in primary care settings.

Dr. Gonzalez has held various leadership roles, including helping to develop and launch a telemedicine program for Impower Florida and serving as the medical director for The Grove, an Impower Company. At Babylon Health, Dr. Gonzalez was involved in the development and implementation of Babylon 360, a Value-Based Care service in Missouri and Georgia. He served as the clinical lead for the care team in Georgia. In this role, he supported day-to-day operations and mentored other clinicians through chart audits and one-to-one reviews.

Dr. Gonzalez has expertise in digital health and telemedicine. In 2018, he received a "Developing a Telemedicine Program" certificate after training with the Arizona Telemedicine Program. He has collaborated with McLaren Health, Impower Florida, and Babylon Health in designing and implementing telemedicine programs. Dr. Gonzalez has experience with multiple EHRs, including Allscripts, PowerChart, Epic, and AthenaHealth.

Medical education is important to Dr. Gonzalez, who is currently an assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. As volunteer faculty, he developed an online telemedicine elective course for fourth-year medical students. He also volunteers as faculty for the student-led Apopka Clinic.

Dr. Gonzalez is an advocate for promoting climate change awareness and understanding its negative impact on human health. He was invited to be a guest editor for the 2022 Spring Issue of the Florida Family Physician Journal, titled "Environmental Impact on Health."

Outside of medicine, Dr. Gonzalez is an FAA-Certified Drone Pilot and enjoys drone photography and videography. He currently lives in Orlando, Florida, with his wife, four children, and dog.
